Week 2 Here We Come...plus an "unexpected happy for you

    Swim Team Friends,

Our top priority is to wish all our swim team moms a happy Mother’s Day. We hope you found your “happy” and enjoyed your day.

Perhaps this video will put an added smile to your face! With the first week of practice under our belts, we wanted to celebrate with this video highlighting all the great fun we had. Enjoy!

Now, let’s get everyone prepared for our 2nd week…

    Practice*: (5-days this week)

-Instruction focus will be on freestyle, backstroke, kicking, starting and more.

-If you purchased a magnet, blue Speedo swim bag or water bottle and haven’t picked those up yet, Team Reps will be onsite to distribute those (all other merchandise will be distributed prior to the start of our 1st meet)

-2018 ribbons also available for pick up

Monday, May 13th through Friday, May 17th:

    • 3:30 PM-4:00 PM 6&U
    • 4:00 PM-4:45 PM 7-8
    • 5:00 PM-6:00 PM 9&UP

Want the full practice schedule for the whole season? Click here.

*Parents, if you find that your child's designated afternoon swim practice time overlaps with their school or after-school activities, we are happy to accommodate your child's attendance at the next earliest practice time until the school year ends. We also understand that this time of year can present scheduling challenges. We ask that your swimmer(s) attend as many swim practices as possible - this is how they get really good.

    Time Trials

    • All swimmers must attend one of our time trial times so that coaches can record individual swimmer times for each stroke. This allows coaches to upload the times into the computer and efficiently output meet sheets.
    • Your athlete should plan to attend ONE of the allotted time slots below.
      • Saturday, May 18th: 9:00 AM-11:00 AM (open to all age groups)
      • Sunday, May 19th: 2:00 PM-4:00 PM (open to all age groups)
    • Please RSVP by 5/16 (DEADLINE DATE UPDATED) to let us know which trial you will attend – this allows us to create a heat sheet with your swimmer’s name.
    • Time trials are mandatory. If your swimmer is not able to attend one of the dates set aside, and you have not confirmed a make-up date with a Team Rep, we cannot guarantee that your swimmer(s) will be in the line-up for the 1st meet.
    • We have set aside time for Monday, May 13th (that’s tomorrow) at 6:15 PM for time trial make-up if your swimmer cannot do 5/18 or 5/19. Email [email protected] to let us know that you are coming if you haven’t already.

Important Reminders & Next Up on Deck:

    2. DEADLINE 5/17: In your profile (accessed from the home page of the website), LOAD ALL NAMES FROM YOUR FAMILY that may participate in a swim team event. For example, planning to attend the Family Fun Night & Pep Rally? You need to register, and you’ll need to check off in your RSVP who from your family is attending. In order to do this, ALL family members must be loaded. It’s easy to add names. Please do it.
    3. DEADLINE 5/16 (DEADLINE UPDATED): RSVP for the Family Fun Night Potluck & Pep Rally event and ATTEND on May 18th. Be sure to record all guests attending AND sign up for a pot luck item. All families must bring a pot luck item (description of what to bring is on the event page).

Scroll down to the event name>click the green button tagged “Job signup”, this opens a window with parent names, click “sign up for jobs”, click the button next to the job you wish to sign up for, and hit “save assignments”. 7. Order a team suit(s) for your athlete(s). We announced back in March that our team has a brand-new suit design this year (it is not black). Please be sure your swimmer is fitted and has the suit in hand prior to our first meet on May 28th. You have a couple of options on fittings. Swim Atlanta (the company supplying the swim suits) has two shop locations that you can travel to with your swimmer(s). There is a size kit at either location and all the employees can help fit your child:
    • Swim Atlanta Johns Creek (4050 Johns Creek Parkway, Suwannee 30024, 770-622-1735)
    • Swim Atlanta Sugarloaf (4850 Sugarloaf Parkway, Suite 702, Lawrenceville 30044, 678-442-7946

Another option is to order online through The Barracuda Shop and utilize the online size chart (scroll down on the page to see girls and boys).

    8. Bookmark our website - the website has been loaded since the beginning of March with ALL swim team dates – this includes practices, meets, parent meeting, time trials, socials, swim clinics, picture day, etc. This site is going to be the tool to make your life SO MUCH EASIER! We have purposefully gone out of our way to ensure the site is loaded with literally everything!

    9. Download the SwimTopia app on your mobile device (from your app store) for easy phone access to our website.

    10. Like the pool’s Facebook page to receive updates, announcements and more!

    11. Sign-up for RainedOut, the mobile text alert system. The system provides you with real-time practice or meet cancellation plus urgent announcements. Make sure to have childcare folks, family members, etc. sign-up as well – anyone that will need to know updates for practices, meets, etc.

    Encore

To prepare for practice, here’s some key actions/tips:

    • Ensure your swimmer has the following equipment: swim cap (we can supply if they don’t have one), goggles, swim suit, tennis shoes, water bottle and towel
    • In the event of inclement weather (thunder and lightning because we do have practice if it is just rain), we will communicate practice status with you via RainedOut - the text messaging alert system. Did you sign up?
    • Make sure you know where you are going…all practices will be held at the Mountaire Park pool – 75 Bonnie Lane, Sandy Springs, GA
    • Team suits do not need to be worn during practice, only at meets and time trials. If you haven't ordered your new suit (it is not black this season), you may do so here.
    • Show up on time!
