*Important update for Wednesday, June 5th: Photo Ventures, the photo company responsible for our individual and team photos suggested we start photos at 8:30 AM to help ensure we wrap everything by 9:45 AM so that we can start our FUNdraising practice on time. Therefore, please plan to arrive at 8:30 AM. No swimming will be allowed until photos have concluded.
Swim Team Friends,
Are we having fun? Are your athletes enjoying the program? We sure hope so! We’ve certainly seen (and appreciate) the level of commitment this team has. And tomorrow, we need that commitment along with some serious grit! We have our 2nd meet tomorrow and we are swimming against one of our most beloved, biggest rivals if there ever were – The Riverside Club. Yep, that’s right. We’ve been swimming against this team for years and every year our teams are in it to win it. Here’s your run-down:
And don't forget...morning practice tomorrow: 8:30 AM-9:00 AM 6&Under, 9:00 AM-9:45 AM 7-8, 10:00 AM-11:00 AM 9&UP
As mentioned above, we are swimming against the Riverside Club – directions to the pool are provided on our website. The pool address is 6450 Riverside Drive, Sandy Springs. Please note, parking at this pool is extremely limited. Consider carpooling or taking an Uber or Lyft. If you decide to drive and as long as there are spots, you can park in Riverside Club’s lot until it is full. A policeman will be directing traffic after that.
Swimmers
Upon 4:30 PM arrival for a swim meet, a swimmer’s three basic responsibilities are as follows:
1.Report to their respective bullpen and let the bullpen volunteer know that they have arrived.
2.Ensure they are marked up by the bullpen volunteer with last name, age group and events they are swimming (the only exception is 13&Up who will mark themselves)
3.Report on time to warm-up (begins at 5:00 PM). Please note, home team wishes for us to have a 5:00 PM warm-up time. Our website has been updated.
Volunteers
Upon arrival for a swim meet, a volunteer’s three basic responsibilities are as follows:
1.Let the Volunteer Chairperson (Deana Menikoff*) know they have arrived and obtain a name tag (Deana will be at the check-in desk at the entrance to the pool)
2.Report any volunteer job concerns or questions to the Volunteer Chairperson
3.Report on time to designated location for their volunteer job
*If for any reason you are running late for your volunteer shift, please call Deana Menikoff at 770-865-7011.
Spectators
- Shall be gracious (and have fun!) as they cheer on all our Barracudas in a respectful manner
- Shall not engage in loud, intimidating, disrespectful or negative behavior toward officials, athletes, other spectators, support personnel or pool staff (including lifeguards)
Tips for a Successful Meet
1.Wear your Barracudas blues! If you don’t have the 2019 t-shirt, wear a past Barracuda shirt or wear a blue shirt. We want to look like an ocean wave as we arrive and cheer on our swimmers!
2.Bring cash for concessions. Credit card is not accepted nor are checks. Riverside will have Chick-fil-a, Napoli pizza, assorted snacks, water and Gatorade for purchase.
3.Do not put sunscreen on right/back shoulder blade and left/inside forearm of your swimmer(s). This is because we write on those areas for each swimmer and the ink will not transfer if you have sunscreen there.
4.Bring fold up chairs, activities and sunscreen. Basically, anything that will make your experience more enjoyable and quiet activities (like cards) which will make your swimmer(s) less restless in between events.
5.Clean up, throw away trash. Please be respectful of the Riverside Club – these folks are our neighbors, school buddies, volunteer friends, etc.
6.Ideally swimmers will stay in their designated bullpen area until they have completed all their events. If your child comes to you after their event, please quickly congratulate your child and send him back to the bullpen area if you can. In order to keep the meet running smoothly, it is important for your child to be in the team area to know when to proceed to the deck to line up for his event. Ownership is on parent and athlete to ensure the swimmer is lined up on deck and ready for their event. Bullpen volunteers will help in the process however they have a lot of swimmers to keep track of and need the extra help.

Finally…during this meet, let’s demonstrate our finest moments of kindness, compassion, patience and support! This is what swim team season is all about. We are grateful to have swimmers that have the physical ability to participate in the sport and families who are present for their athletes and positive influences on those around them. Let’s not forget it swim team family – THESE. ARE. GIFTS.
We love swimming with you!
