Thank you for sharing your sunshine...more than $1,600 raised to help find a cure

    Swim Team Friends,

We wanted to let you know that yesterday we accomplished something pretty great.

You may recall the emails we have sent about our philanthropy focus this year - raising money to fund lifesaving cancer research and clinical trials by partnering with Swim Across America. Yesterday we hosted a “fun” practice for our team, asking for $5.00 donations from each participant, in which swimmers and coaches participated in relay races, pool games and other team-building activities. PLUS, we sold items through a bake sale in which five of our swim families made wonderful treats for attendees to enjoy.

    • Thanks to your generosity, our team raised $558.00 this year.
    • But that’s not all...
    • The Mountaire Park Pool Board heard about our efforts and they committed to a 100% match.
    • And that’s not all...
    • An outstanding individual named Abby Pilkenton, who is a rising senior that swims for Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School and is a junior board member of Swim Across America, attended our event and handed out giveaways. Holy Innocents’ heard about our great work and agreed to a 100% match as well.
    • Therefore, our grand fundraising total this year is $1,674.00
    • That’s over 5 times more than last year. Just incredible!
    • Thank you, thank you, thank you.

It would be a huge miss not to thank the following individuals that made this event a tremendous success, we are incredibly grateful to you:

    • Andrea Murray – Philanthropy Chair for the Mountaire Park Barracudas
    • Ellie Ryan, Emma Murray, Molly Wooden, Stella Bean and Carys Cooley - our bakers extraordinaire. Collectively they made around 120 individual baked good items which were sold out (and likely eaten :-)) in a matter of 30 minutes!

And of course, a special thanks to the Mountaire Park Pool Board, Abby Pilkenton, Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School, and our swim team family for demonstrating thoughtfulness, generosity, and humility. We are such a fortunate swim team community, and we appreciated the opportunity to donate money to the cause of one day curing the children and adults who can’t swim.

Thank you for sharing your sunshine. Check out the attached flyer with highlights from this year's event!

Have we mentioned, we love swimming with you?!
