Mountaire Park Barracudas: Week 3 Gear-Up & Your To Dos
Swim Team Friends,
We hope you and your families have had a wonderful weekend! To those of you that spent Saturday night with us at the Family Fun Night event, thank you. We had THE. BEST. TIME. From the greasy watermelon relay, cannonball contest and selfie photos to the raft race and water bottle dive, you guys rocked it (a huge shout out to Loren Einstein and her special events team)! We are so grateful for the “heart” that this team has. Let’s keep our wonderful team spirit going as we head into week 3. Here’s what you can look forward to:
- Time Trials/Practice: 5-days
this week, absolutely critical that all athletes are in attendance every
day (if we don’t get your times, you won’t be able to swim in the 1st
meet)
- Monday, May 17th through Friday, May 21st
- 3:30 PM-4:00 PM 6&UNDER
- 4:00 PM-4:45 PM 7-8
- 5:00 PM-6:00 PM 9&UP
- Wear your tight-fitting suits (swim meet suits are great), swim caps and goggles
- COVID-19 protocols have been updated. For the latest, click here.
- For practices, we continue to ask that 8&Unders are accompanied by ONE guardian and 9&Ups are dropped off by the front gate. This is to help us maintain organization, minimize distractions, and out of respect our coaching staff.
YOUR TO DO ITEMS:
- DEADLINE 5/21:Sign up for all five of your volunteer spots throughout the season.Yes, all five. Go to the Team Calendar page, scroll down to the event name>click the green button tagged “Job signup”, this opens a window with parent names, click “sign up for jobs”, click the button next to the job you wish to sign up for and hit “save assignments”. DONE! To avoid many emails and phone calls after May 21st, please sign up for all five slots.
- DEADLINE 5/22: Declare (aka tell us if your swimmer(s) is attending) your swimmer(s) for the 1st meet against Riverside. To do this…click here. Scroll down to the meet name (1st Swim Meet: HOME against Riverside)>click the green button tagged “Meet Entry”, this opens a window with your swimmer(s) name(s), click “edit”, select the drop-down option for each of your swimmer(s), and hit “save”. DONE!
- This is important, if your swimmer(s) is not declared by the 5/22 deadline, your swimmer(s) will not be able to participate in the 1st meet
- DEADLINE 5/23: Sign-up for meet 1 concessions (read more below) beginning Tuesday, May 18th
Side notes on meet 1 concessions:
- Our 1st meet is approaching and it’s at home therefore it’s now time to sign-up for concessions. Game on guys!
- A friendly reminder that concessions is one of our biggest fundraisers for the team, this effort requires all-hands
- YOUR NEXT STEP BEGINNING TUESDAY, MAY 18TH: click on the “Home Meet 1: Concession Sign-Up” link on the Team Calendar page of the website
- Each family needs to sign-up for one item
- PLEASE – read the item you signed up for very carefully and purchase exactly what is requested (size, brand, quantity). Trust us…our concessions team knows what they are doing. Don’t mess with them! :-)
- Your concessions RSVP is due by Sunday, May 23rd
- Your concession items must be brought to the pool on Thursday, May 27th between 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM (and placed on the table near the microwave in the upper pavilion). THIS IS CRITICAL. Do not deliver your item before 8:30 AM or after 10:30 AM. Our meet is the evening of May 27th…the concessions team must receive your items within that time frame to prepare properly for the meet. Like we said above, don’t mess with the concessions team :-)
- If there is an exception to the delivery time on an item, it will be clearly marked on the sign-up page
- When dropping off, please be sure your item is marked with your name so that we can check you off
- Here’s a question you might have: “What if my child is not swimming in the meet, do I still need to bring an item?” Yes, please.
NEXT UP ON DECK:
- Thursday, May 27th: HOME (virtual) meet against Riverside. The meet theme is sports teams (parents, guests and athletes can come
to the meet wearing their favorite college and pro sports apparel and
accessories)
- Here's a question you might have: "Can my whole family attend the event to cheer on my swimmer(s)?" They sure can, which is one of the reasons why we designed this meet as virtual. If grandparents, neighbors, friends, etc. are in the area and want to watch, they are welcome.
