Week 5: Gear-Up & Important Reminders for Parents

    Swim Team Friends,

We hope you all had a meaningful Memorial Day Weekend with your family and friends.

This email serves to help us all get our heads in the game for swim team this week. Here's what you can look forward to, but first some key items for parents:

    1) Always declare your swimmer with a "yes" or a "no" for every swim meet.

    2) If you have a last-minute volunteer change, please email the Team Reps.

    3) Volunteers are very busy during meet days, please make any necessary childcare arrangements for your little ones. We cannot have children with parents during volunteer times, we will need to ask you to leave and sign-up for another job later in the season.

    4) When it is time to switch to 2nd shift volunteers, the announcer will call it (the switch happens by EVENT not by TIME).  Meets can run early and/or late. Your cue comes from the announcer.

    5) For any swimmer who is a last-minute scratch or needs to unexpectedly leave the meet, it is critical you let the coaches know ASAP. We lose serious points by not having swimmers in heats when they are supposed to be.

    6) For backstroke events, only timers are allowed to place their hand on the wall to help protect the child's head as they complete an event. We got called out by the official on the last meet that parents were putting their hands in the water. We will get disqualified if it continues. Parents should also not be on either end of the pool, this area is for our timers.

    Here's your week ahead:

    • Tuesday, June 1st & Wednesday, June 2nd: PRACTICE
      • 8:30 AM-9:00 AM 6&U
      • 9:00 AM-9:45 AM 7-8
      • 9:45 AM-10:45 AM 9&UP
    • Tuesday, June 1st (morning): drop off your concession items
      • PLEASE – read the item you signed up for very carefully and purchase exactly what is requested (size, brand, quantity). Trust us…our concessions team knows what they are doing. Don’t mess with them! :-)
      • Your concession items must be brought to the pool on Tuesday, June 1st between 8:30 AM – 10:45 AM (and placed on the table near the microwave in the upper pavilion). THIS IS CRITICAL. Do not deliver your item before 8:30 AM or after 10:45 AM. Concession Chair, Anne Koch, will be on deck to receive your items.
      • If there is an exception to the delivery time on an item, it will be clearly marked on the sign-up page.
      • When dropping off, please be sure your item is marked with your name so that we can check you off.

      • All athletes should wear their 2021 team t-shirt for the team photo (please make sure you have it, shirts were distributed in practice the week of 5/24)
      • A note from PhotoVentures – the photo vendor that will be onsite:
        • To conserve resources and reduce high-touch transactions on photo day download the order form here.
        • All swimmers and parents are asked to wear masks in and around photo areas until they are in front of the camera for their photos.
        • Swimmers and siblings (even non-swim team siblings) can participate in individual/family photos.
        • Swimmers only in the photo areas please. Parents, please remain socially distanced from photo areas except to complete or turn in an order form.
        • Parents and onlookers please NO PERSONAL PHOTOS of team shots, including the use of cell phones. The photo staff will stop photography until all personal cameras/phones are stowed, and the club cannot earn the free gifts and services we provide if parents are taking their own photos. Thank you for respecting staff and our work.
