Swim Team Friends,

Registration for the new swimmer evaluations is now open! RSVP HERE. New swimmers ages 8 and under must have completed an evaluation prior to attending swim practice – which starts on Monday, May 9th.

These evaluations take place to ensure safety and to ease your child's mind about swim team. The requirement communicated by the Atlanta Swimming Association, the governing body of our Summer swim league, is that swimmers must be able to swim one lap of the pool unassisted.

During evaluations, your swimmers will receive one-to-one focus from our coaching staff as they get to know one another and work on water comfort.

Here's what you can expect for your athlete during their evaluation:

• Our Coaches will spend time talking with your swimmer to get to know them and find out what they are most excited about as we kick-off the season
• Coaches will help them get to know their swim equipment (i.e. goggles, swim cap, etc.)
• Athletes will be asked to swim the freestyle stroke one length of the pool unassisted
• Coaches will observe your swimmer’s general water-comfort level
• Pool water temp is in the 80s

Here’s what WON’T happen during their evaluation:

• We won’t set any expectation that your swimmer needs to know all strokes
• We won’t assess your swimmer’s proficiency in strokes (this evaluation is strictly to help ensure safety and understand water-comfort level, all skill levels are welcome!)

Once our coaches have worked with your swimmer, you are free to go.

Here are some key actions/tips to prepare for the evaluation:

1. Please RSVP by Friday, April 29th at 12:00 PM for one of two evaluation slots
2. Talk to your swimmer ahead of the evaluation. Let them know this is very casual and not to be anxious. Think of it as a chance to meet new friends!
3. Ensure your swimmer has a swim cap, goggles, swimsuit and towel
4. If you signed up on the paper form at the Meet & Greet, we've already added your name to the sign up

If for any reason it is deemed, between you and Coach, that your swimmer should not partake in swim team this season, a full registration refund will be provided following their evaluation.
