Last Night's Meet
June 21st
Barracudas,
It was a challenging meet last night. We had lots of last minute changes which really caused a lot of added work on your coaches and bullpen volunteers and added to why we lost our meet. The meet was chaotic for 4 reasons - 3 of which we have control over.....
- Weather - we cannot control this. Thanks to all who kept the swim moms informed when you were running late due to the weather and traffic. Thanks for your patience trying to do bullpen in the only dry area!
- Not coming because of the weather - last night was a perfect example of why we BEG you to come to the meet no matter how bad the weather looks. Riverside made the call to try to swim the meet and they made the right call because the weather improved and we were able to swim. However, we had several swimmers that simply did not show....This caused a lot of headaches trying to fill last minute vacancies.
- Not telling us your swimmer would be out - We completely understand last minute illnesses and injuries occur and this is not what we are talking about. The majority of kids that we learned would not be there could have been made known to us long before it was. This caused lots of last minute changes and chaos.
- Leaving the meet before all races swum - We had several kids leave when they still had a race left to swim. This wasn't know to any of the coaches until that swimmer could not be found for a particular race....lost points and headaches for your coaches.
A huge THANKS to those who did Bullpen by themselves or stepped in when a bullpen parent had to leave and for those who scrambled trying to ensure we were placing swimmers in the vacancies. You were a huge help!!! When you are managing a team of 130 swimmers, we all need to do our best to help out our coaches and volunteers. We appreciate your understanding in helping us in these areas.
Your Swim Moms
